The Emali Integrated Livestock Project is a USD 25 million initiative that aims to transform the livestock sector through an integrated value chain approach combining processing, feed production, and market access. The project will establish a modern abattoir with a 150-head daily capacity, a feed mill producing 10 tons per hour, and cold chain logistics to serve both domestic and export markets. Supporting infrastructure includes a biogas unit, wastewater treatment plant, and solar-powered systems for sustainability. The facility will be developed on a 50-acre parcel of land with access to the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway, strategically positioned to serve livestock farmers from Kajiado, Makueni, and Taita Taveta Counties.

Once operational, the project is expected to create over 1,200 direct jobs and provide a structured market for over 10,000 pastoralist households. The project intends to leverage Kenya’s growing demand for high-quality beef exports to the Middle East and Africa, while integrating local cooperatives into the value chain for inclusive growth.
