Londiani dam water project
Londiani dam water project
Earth-fill dam under BOOT model supplying potable water and irrigation.
The Kipkelion–Londiani multi-purpose dam project is a USD 257 million public–private partnership (PPP) designed under a 30-year build–own–operate–transfer (BOOT) model between the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation and GaP Insaat Yatirim A.S. as the private partner. The project entails the construction of a major earth-fill dam with a storage capacity of 55 million cubic meters, designed to supply 54,849 cubic meters of potable water per day to the populations of Kipkelion West and Londiani sub-counties in Kericho County. Beyond domestic water supply, the dam will also support small-scale irrigation and livestock watering.
The project development report has been completed and is currently under government review, marking a key milestone before procurement and financial close. Once implemented, the project will enhance water security, promote agricultural productivity, and catalyze socio-economic development across the Kericho highlands.
